In Trentino Alto Adige the possibilities for young short film makers to compare their own capabilities with an audience and fellow film makers aren't many. Likewise rare are the possibilities for a passionate audience and for people who work in this field to get an idea of "the state of the art". Because of this, "4FF" has decided to compare short films produced in the region with those realised by young international directors in the window "ShortLand 2008".

Introduction

Shortland - Regional competition

From this year onwards the regional competition will be accompanied by a retrospective of short films coming from the international festival “Arcipelago – Festival Internazionale di Cortometraggi e Nuove Immagini” in Rome, the most important and recognized in Italy.
During the 9 days of “4FF” the film makers of Trentino Alto Adige, together with the audience, will be able to meet their colleagues, get to know their work and discuss it directly.
And at the same time they will be judged by a prestigious jury that decides who is going to take part in one of the official section of “Arcipelago”.
And, furthermore, they will participate in the competition for the audience award.
In short: an opportunity to compare one’s talent, a possibility of getting noticed in the national and international panorama.

Arcipelago

Founded in 1992, ARCIPELAGO – Festival Internazionale di Cortometraggi e Nuove Immagini (International Festival of Short Films and New Images) is a project in progress with the aim of looking for and adopt, on an international level, the most original impulses and the most innovative styles which are happening within audio-visual formats that are an exception to the norm.
Particular attention is reserved for European productions. The festival wants to testify the flares and register the changes in European productions, to reason about creative and productive diversities and to design an up-to-date map of new tendencies and independent, marginal, experimental activities.
ARCIPELAGO is organised by 3E-media@ Cultural Association and is held every year in mid-June, in Rome, at the Multisala Intrastevere, in the historic old part of the town.
