Just as examining a painting at length more and more details become apparent, Kaizer subjects a slowly rotating shot of a simple public garden to dazzlingly inventive image manipulations, revealing a kaleidoscope of hidden delights.

A very high quality score, technically impeccable. It makes effective use of an ironic accompaniment, with an ability to underscore the film’s humour.

Second Award (€ 550):
Stefano Zorzanello - Italy, 2002
STRAMILANO, by Corrado d’Errico, (Italy, 1929, 10’)
An excellently composed, arranged and performed re-musication. Using acoustic sounds produced by the instruments, it also manages to reflect the noises inherent in the images. The cyclical form of the composition was appreciated and the systematic approach deemed original.

Third Award (€ 350):

THE LODGER, A STORY OF A LONDON FOG, by Alfred Hitchcock, (Uk, 1927, 75’)
The re-musication of The Lodger is well defined in its emotional tone, the comment of the action and the characterization of the actors. There is good synchronicity between acoustic sounds and invented noises.

Harlock Award (publication of CD):
Sergio Lopez Figueroa - Spain, 1995
UN CHIEN ANDALOU, by Luis Buñuel, (France, 1929, 16’)
Figueroa work shows a good technique in organizing the orchestra and shows the ability of following the images with a significant and free soundtrack, capable to expand the meanings of it.
